Blood and Silver earrings

These earrings are to match the necklace in the previous post.  The wire links and the earwires are handmade.  The pair took about an hour.  I used the same smoky-gray and dark red Bloodstone as in the necklace.

Picasso Jasper earrings

Last night I made these really simple wire-wrapped Picasso Jasper earrings out of the two remaining "blue" pieces I had from the previous projects.  They matched a lot better in the dimmer lighting last night, but they're the two that are the closest in color and pattern I had left.  Did a little fancier wire-wrap than usual, but still a relatively simple technique.

Luminous Heart earrings

These are the earrings that match the previous necklace.  I made them using Swarovski crystal hearts and sterling silver.  They're really sparkly!  The color is "luminous green" that shifts shades from pale green to peachy to clear, depending on outfit and lighting.

Mama Botswana earrings

And here are the earrings that match the previous necklace and earrings to complete the Mama Botswana set.  I set the two rounds aside because they were nicely banded and matched, then made the earrings using sterling silver findings I had left over from other projects once the necklace was done.  I love the deep mauve shade of these stones!

Survivor's Song earrings

And here are a pair of earrings to match the previous necklace.  I don't do earrings very often, but these just kind of came together.  They were the only findings I had for a pair of gold earrings, and I've never used that kind of ear wire before, but they worked out well.

Price:  $8 (originals sold to Lou Anne G.)

Feathered Feature earrings

I made these earrings for my sister as an experiment.  I'd never used feathers before, or a whole lot of chain work.  They're a spin on FusionBeads' "Great Minds Pink Alike" earrings on their Inspiration page.  My sister likes feathers, but not particularly pink, so I was torn between a color like orange, yellow, blue, or green.  I've done a fair amount of blue for her, and the little Swarovski drops didn't come in a whole lot of colors, so I settled for green.  They were very difficult to work with, but the effect is cool when they're done.
Kudos to my sister, Margot Roudebush of Whimsicals By Margot here on BlogSpot, for the photo; she sent it to me once, but it disappeared months ago.  I spent a lot of last night looking for it because I remembered what it looked like, to no avail, so she managed to track it down from her end for me.  Photo (c) Margot Roudebush / Whimsicals by Margot.

Medium Vitrail Heart Earrings

I really like the Medium Vitrail color Swarovski crystals.  So I decided to make a pair of earrings to go with the Wild Heart necklace I made.  Kept them very simple.  They look rather rainbow-toned here...there's actually a lot more green in them than the pictures indicate.

Fancy glass earrings

Figured since I was on a roll this week as far as projects, I might as well do one today, too, since the weather's dreary and too cold to spend much time outside.  I kept it simple--a pair of earrings using base metal components, seed beads, and pink fancy glass.  They look like flat rounds, but in actuality they're ridged down the center, which is why they don't lie flat in the photo.

Water droplet necklace and earrings.

As Christmas approached, my boyfriend's mother came to me with a series of custom orders for people she knows.  Most were simple to fill--6-loop memory wire bracelets in a variety of colors, befitting the personalities of the women to whom they were to be given, the already-done aqua Dutch Spiral bracelet Dan had made, and the already-done set of aquamarine Swarovski earrings and necklace.  She decided she wanted to give a bigger gift to Dan's grandma, so asked me to make another Swarovski necklace and earrings set, but instead of the more expensive sterling asked me to find something suitable in base metal.  So, with Dan peering over my shoulder to offer his suggestions as far as chain style and pendant size and shape (the color had to be aquamarine, to match the Dutch Spiral bracelet), I roved my favorite online stores and we decided on the water-drop shaped Swarovski briolette.  Though the earrings look like they're done in gold, they aren't--they're silver-plated base metal.

Name: Water droplets

Price: necklace for $15, earrings for $5 (if use base metal); $25 and $10 (if sterling); (was a custom project for Donna V.)

Length: Necklace is 18"; earrings at most 1"

Swarovski heart earrings.

This Christmas saw some unexpected and hard family circumstances.  To help offer a little cheer to my Aunt, I gave her these earrings that match the custom necklace I did for her.  Again, the "light vitrail" hearts, and sterling silver.

Name: Sparkling Innocence earrings

Price: $10 (as sterling silver and Swarovski; was a custom project for my aunt)

Length: about an inch at most

Seed bead earrings

This pair of earrings was a custom order for someone to give as a Christmas gift, made to go with a memory wire bracelet and a twisted multi-strand necklace in the same colors.  I'm still learning seed bead earring techniques, so didn't want to do my usual fairly-tacky loops, and managed to find a pair of metal jump rings I'd had lying around waiting to be used and simply strung the seed beads on them and through the ear wires.  Turned out pretty well.

Price: $8 (were a custom project for Donna V.)

Length: dime to penny size in circumference...didn't measure before I delivered them.

Blue lace agate earrings

I made this pair of earrings a little over a year ago.  I like them because they have a Celtic feel to their appearance, and I've always been a fan of the subtle patterns in blue lace agate.  They were originally made for my Mom, who really liked the silver bangle when I made my sister her yellow Swarovski wire-wrapped earrings for Christmas, but they just wound up too big for her taste when I showed them to her.  The rounds are 6mm and 4mm.

Price: $10 (reason: bangle pricing)

Length: 1.5"

Peridot Earrings

This is another pair of earrings I took to the Frankfort show.  I made them as companion pieces for the peridot necklace I did earlier.  These earrings are tiny!  The peridot rounds are only 3mm, with gold-filled rounds above and below, and on gold-filled wire and earwires.  The entire earring, from height of earwire to tip of dangle is a little less than 1".  I was worried about losing them before I even got them to the show and I think they were too small to be noticed on my table.

Name: Peridot earrings

Price: $8 (reason: gold-filled wire)

Length: less than 1" total

Aventurine Earrings

I don't do a lot of earrings yet, as I'm not comfortable enough with my skill at them, but this is a pair I took to the First Baptist Church craft show in Frankfort November 19th.  I made them to go with the aventurine cross-weave necklace I did a while ago.  They are 6mm aventurine beads with size 15 seed beads on sterling silver.  Very simple.

Price: $10 (reason: sterling silver)

Length: approx. 1" from tip of dangle to height of ear wire loop

Wire-Wrapped Earrings

This pair of wire-wrapped earrings I changed the color of the Swarovski crystals from the original pattern while making them for my sister.  I went back today to the FusionBeads inspiration section to see if I could get the name of the project (which I can't for the life of me remember), and the earrings are no longer there. Originally, the crystals were purple tones, but I knew my sister's favorite color was yellow, so I hunted around for a bit to get the bright-to-pale yellow matchup instead of the purple.  Image (c) Margot Roudebush and Whimsicals by Margot.

Swish Earrings

Last year for Christmas, my sister asked me if I could make her earrings.  I've never thought of earrings as my strong point, but I wanted to make her something she asked for, so I hunted around on FusionBeads in their inspiration section for ideas.  These earrings, called Swish on the site, fit the bill.  They involved a new technique for me: wire wrapping.  It took a few tries to figure out how to make the wrapping part look okay (I'm still not what I would call great at it yet, but I'm getting there), but they were a lot of fun to learn.  It was also one of my first uses of Swarovski crystals.  Image (c) Margot Roudebush and Whimsicals by Margot.

Berrylicious Earrings

My sister, photographer of WhimsicalsbyMargot.blogspot.com, loves funky jewelry, so I do my best to make some very unique pieces for her.  The moment I saw these earrings as a project on FusionBeads, I knew I had to try it for her for Christmas this past year.  I learned the "covering a component" wire technique and it was pretty much the first time I'd worked with Swarovski crystals.  The project was called Berry Patch and featured just the earrings, but I went ahead and also made her a pendant identical to them. The crystals mix is called Berrylicious, and suited her personality to a T.  She was also awesome enough to do the photograph for me!  It is (c) to Margot Roudebush and Whimsicals by Margot.

Jet Elegance Earrings

Inspired again by FusionBeads' Rock Candy set.  This time, they're done in black instead of aquamarine like my Aquamarine Frost set, or the red like the original Rock Candy set.  It's very hard to take pictures of sterling silver and black faceted crystals!  Earrings measure about 1" total length, with the crystals being 9mm x 5.5mm.
